CityLab Toolkit: Business for urban social innovation and impact

Introductions and initiations

We set the stage to talk to our clients
PennAveEastDC Committee. Our initial conversation was to imbibe all the knowledge from our previous cohort, understand where they left off and continue

As a team we listed all the possible projects we could take up in the neighborhood to help them build their community and empower their
residents to be part of the process.

As our next step, we presented it to the PennAveEastDC Committee and gauged their interest, which helped us in narrowing it down to the projects that made impact on the community and that we could practically deliver.

The projects were
·     Community Website
·     Branding (community logo)
·     Promotional Video
·     Social Media - FaceBook & Twitter
·     Art district by bringing in  mural arts.

We were inspired by many such initiatives around the world read these stories read these stories

And by the 11th street bridge park project that is right in the backyard of Ward 7Learn below

Project execution

This phase of our capstone term started with a
presentation to the community members about the possible options to build the website.

After our presentation we convinced the clients
(PennAveEastDC Committee) with the best option for the website –based on highlighting the merits and demerits of WIX Vs SquareSpace Vs a custom website

We created a logo for the committee (Check the logos on this page)

PITCH BOOK – Digitization and interactivity

We inherited the offline PDF version of the pitch book that was created by the previous cohort and elevated it to live on the web.

The pitchbook is now digital and is part of the pennaveeast website. It is also interactive and can has deep links to area attractions and informative websites that are related to the area.
